Prasanna to face Privileges Committee

At the time a heated situation prevailed in Parliament on July 03rd over Minister Vijayakala Maheswaran’s statement, Joint Opposition MP Prasanna Ranaweera had behaved in an unruly manner, using foul language and had tried to grab the Mace, for which he has been summoned before the Parliament Privileges Committee on July 16th.

The parliament Committee had notified him last week to show cause for his behaviour.

Prasanna Ranaweera said that he had been summoned next Monday to record his verbal statement.

When a group of Joint Opposition MPs had got out of their seats in the House and was shouting slogans in protest, Prasanna Ranaweera and Wimal Weerawansa had resorted to using foul language and threatened the Speaker.

The Speaker severely reprimanded the two JO-MPs over their behaviour.
