When Sri Lanka Mirror inquired from Dilantha Widanage of the BBS, he said Gnanasara Thera had visited the area on the request of several Buddhist monks and Muslim organisations.
“The Ven. Gnanasara Thera visited the area in the morning and held discussions with the Buddhist monks and Muslim organisations in the area. He spoke to them with the aim of defusing the tensions. The meeting was held at the District Secretariat. Gnanasara Thera also held discussions with Minister Vajira Abeywardena and also visited the hospital. He also urged both parties to act in a peaceful manner,” Widanage said.
The tensions that arose in the Galle, Gingtota area yesterday (17) has now been brought under control through the intervention of the government.
