Foreign intelligence service helps Basil! Featured

A foreign intelligence service is helping ex-minister Basil Rajapaksa in his political campaign to lure certain SLFP MPs into leaving the government, state intelligence has confirmed.

A top government official told Sri Lanka Mirror that the motive of that foreign intelligence service was not to bring Mahinda Rajapaksa back to power, but to influence the government.

There are rumours that nearly 20 SLFP MPs in the government are due to leave, but the top government official said five or six at most were likely to crossover.

Government leaders have received details of the discussions they have held with Basil Rajapaksa.

Meanwhile, the president and the prime minister have discussed at length the challenges to the government’s continuation, and agreed to work together to protect the government under any circumstances.

Minister Malik Samarawickrema coordinated the talks, where it has also been decided to explain to the public the government’s position with regard to the SAITM issue and other slogans being used by the joint opposition against it, as well as how the previous regime had created all these problems.
