Helambage murder suspect claims attempt on his life! Featured

A man suspected of involvement in the murder of Galle Cricket Club president Premasiri Helambage has claimed an attempt on his life.

The suspect, Dasun Suranga Manawadu of 31/2 B, Temple Road, Andadola, Wathugedara, and his wife, have submitted a sworn affidavit to courts, saying Ambalangoda police were evading naming him a suspect or arresting him.

The man says he is in remand custody after failing to pay bail money over a different court case.

He claims Ambalangoda HQI Mahinda Villoraarchchi had attempted to get him released on bail by force, but that he avoided it by saying he could not sign for a bail paid by a person unknown to him.

K.K. Udayakumara, main suspect in the Helambage murder, in a confession to Ambalangoda police, has implicated Manawadu in the killing.

Manawadu says he is not being named a suspect as part of an attempt to kill him, of which Inspector Villorachchi too, is a co-conspirator.

Given below are sworn affidavits submitted by Manawadu and his wife.
