Number of factory fatalities highest in 2018

In comparison to 2016, 2017 and 2018, the highest number of injuries and fatalities at factories had been reported in 2018.

In 2018, the number of non-fatal injuries that had occurred at factories stood at 1,467 and the number of fatal accidents were reportedly 105.

In 2017, the number of non-fatal injuries that had occurred at factories stood at 1,451 and the number of fatal accidents were reportedly 68. In 2016 number of non-fatal injuries that had occurred at factories stood at 1,394 and the number of fatal accidents were reportedly 67.

Due to 21 strikes in 2018, in the estate sector alone 23,654 working days had been lost while in the production sector 9,965 working days had been lost.

In semi-state institutions these strikes have led to the loss of 5,815 working days.

Similarly, during 2018 alone 183 new unions had been registered and 83 existing unions had been cancelled.
