The Minister stated that the UNF will nominate the most suitable and the most preferred candidate by the people when it comes to its presidential nominee. Minister Kabir Hashim was speaking at a public event in Colombo
Minister Hashim further expressing his views on the formation of the new front led by the UNP, the Democratic National Front (DNF) said the inking of the agreement of the DNF had to be postponed due to disagreement on
certain clauses of its constitution by some of the stakeholders.
The minister said during a recent meeting at temple trees by the relevant stakeholders, several amendments had been proposed to the constitution of the DNF and while there was consensual agreement on most of them one of the
proposals had been disputed with further discussions on the matter put on hold.
The Minister while noting that the talks between the DNF leaders were held under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and on a cordial note said he was confident that the remaining issues can be sorted out
Kabir Hashim said the DNF leaders will meet on Saturday to discuss the remaining issues and added he was confident that by afternoon the UNF will be able to announce its presidential nominee as well as the date for the
inking of the agreement to form he DNF.
