JVP decides not to contest elections Featured

The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) has decided not to contest any upcoming election as a political party.

According to its Politburo member K.D. Lalkantha, the JVP would contest all upcoming elections under the Jana Bala Peramuna political organisation.

He said that the party anticipates around 1.5 million votes at the next Presidential election under the Jana Bala Peramuna, adding that they are targeting around 15-20 seats in parliament, including the national list MPs.

Lalkantha further noted that the party is currently engaged in propaganda activities covering the whole island at Grama Niladhari division level.

He also added that the Jana Bala Peramuna had firmly decided never to join any coalition with any of the mainstream political parties in the future.
