"This is a great strength to us in Sri Lanka," Wickremesinghe said in a statement. "Lonely Planet has said that despite difficulties people are welcoming tourists with smiling faces.
"We have taken many steps to revive the industry. We will take more steps to do so."
Western nations in particular relaxed travel advisories within weeks of the attack as security forces rapidly arrested members of a group of Islamist extremists who had carried out the attacks.
