More affected by Northern floods (Pics)

The number of people affected by the floods in the Northern region of Sri Lanka, have increased.

According to Disaster Management authorities and regional security authorities, 73,851 persons of 23,054 families have been affected by the floods so far.

The Disaster Management Centre says that 39 camps have been set up to shelter those affected in the districts of Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Vavuniya and Jaffna.

The highest number of displaced persons have been reported from the Kilinochchi district. According to statistics, the number stands at 39,932 persons from 12,118 families.

District secretariats of Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Mannar, Vavuniya and Jaffna have received funding to provide immediate relief for the flood affected.

Waters levels at Iranamadu increase
Meanwhile, Irrigation engineers say that the water levels at the Iranamadu Tank has increased by another 2ft to 38ft.
