Motion to reinstate Ranil passed (update)

The vote of confidence motion in parliament tomorrow to show that UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe commands the confidence of Parliament to function as Prime Minister was passed today (12).

The motion was passed by 117 votes in favour.

Motion to reinstate Ranil, seconded

Sajith Premadasa today (12) moved a vote of confidence motion in parliament tomorrow to show that UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe commands the confidence of Parliament to function as Prime Minister.

Presenting the motion, Premadasa said Wickremesinghe should be appointed the Prime Minister as he commands the support of a parliamentary majority, adding that the prevailing crisis could only be resolved through Wickremesinghe’s reinstatement.

The motion was seconded by MP Mangala Samaraweera.
