Protest in Matugama demanding wage hike Featured

A protest has taken place in Matugama town to demand the increase of the wage of plantation workers to Rs. 1,000.

The Lanka Plantation and Mercantile Services Union organized it.

Speaking at the protest, president of the union Chatura Samarasinghe said their demand was very reasonable and the government and the employers should agree to it.

If they do not listen to the demand, all plantation workers in the country will be brought to Colombo for a major protest, he said.
