Military officers to be taught Angampora (pics)

With the aim of promoting the age-old self-defence techniques, physical strength, endurance, courage and tolerance among the soldiers, Major General Nishshanka Ranawana, Commander, Security Forces – Kilinochchi (SF-KLN) who is also the Chairperson, Sri Lanka Army Angampora Committee introduced a session of Angampora training for Army personnel serving under the Security Force Headquarters - Kilinochchi (SFHQ-KLN) as an initial programme.

Afterwards, Sri Lanka Army Angampora Committee initiated a month-long ‘Angampora’ training course under the supervision of experts in the field. The opening ceremony of the training module began recently at the Nelumpiyasa auditorium in the presence of the Commander, Security Forces - Kilinochchi (SF-KLN), Major General Niyshshanka Ranawana who graced as the Chief Guest, along with the General Officer Commanding, 65 Division, Brigade Commanders, senior Officers and Officers.

Ritigala Sinhakara Parapure Kalakeerthi Kalavibushana Dewinda Laksiri Ranasinghe and his team voluntarily participate in the entire period to conduct the programme. 100 male Army personnel in under command battalions are currently participating in the training programme.

At the commencement of the ceremony, the instructor together with a group of student following Angampora conducted an exhibition for the benefit of the soldiers.
