Lanka Logistics to close in December! Featured

The Defence Ministry has decided close down Lanka Logistics Company established under the Ministry of Defence, which was set up during the previous regime to facilitate the purchase of military equipment for the tri forces,  by December 31, it is reported.

This proposal has also received the Cabinet nod.

The Defence Ministry has decided to go ahead with the purchase of the arms and ammunitions already ordered during this period and not to place any new orders thereafter.

The employees of the said company would be assigned to their previously employed establishments after the closure of Lanka Logistics.

This establishment was commenced by former Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa and this company was named in several controversial deals.

The current military requirements of the tri forces would thereafter be purchased individually by these institutions.
