(Mirror) - Pyramid Wilmar Oils & Fats (Pvt) Limited has reportedly incurred a loss of over US$ 05 million due to yesterday’s (05) fire that occurred in their factory in Kerawalapitya.
The factory, which refines Palm oil and produces several byproducts, belongs to Singapore’s ‘Wilmar’ chain.
The fire had occurred after a boiler burst and a nearby diesel tank caught fire.
The fire was doused by the Army and the fire brigade.
Pyramid Wilmar is also a main stakeholder in the ‘Shangri La’ hotel project, which sees to the building of a luxury resort facing the Galle Face Green in Colombo.
