(Mirror) - Sri Lanka's Cargills group said it had struck a deal with Australia's Carlton United Breweries, to license produce FOSTERS Lager in the island.
Carlton United Breweries was part of SABMiller group based in UK and South Africa.
Cargills (Ceylon) Plc said in a stock exchange filing that a deal signed on February 25 allowing its wholly owned unit Millers Brewery Ltd, produce and sell FOSTERS within Sri Lanka.
Cargills bought the then McCallum Breweries (Ceylon) for 1.4 billion rupees in 2011, which makes three coins branded beer in Sri Lanka.
The Cargills group owns and operates Sri Lanka's largest retail chain made up of over 200 outlets.
